Help! Advice please!!!! :(?
Young man, relax. You worry too much. Say goodbye inside before going out & you can say it at your usual volume. Let people know you are hearing impaired on your left & they will understand. Usually I am the first one to laugh at myself when I make a mistake or fall on my , so people must be laughing with me if I laugh at my own mistakes first! When ping people on the street, simply say 'excuse me' as you go by & none should take offense. The reason you shouldn't walk behind a woman (not to close anyway) is that we are always concerned about violent attackers for very good reasons, but if there are a lot of people walking around, it won't matter. P her and say something nice with a smile, like "good morning" or "good evening"& move on ahead. She will appreciate it & who knows, she might smile back. If you see a woman you are acquainted with, smile, say "Hello, how are you doing?" You might get the chance to get to know her better & you may become good friends-she may even be your future wife who knows? Whatever you do always smile, be yourself & worry less. We are much more easy going and informal in America than China & we don't have as many hard set rules of social politeness. A lot of it we make up as we go along. If you think you made a mistake, apologize with a smile. We are also very forgiving. Bright Blessings & Happy & Prosperous New Year -the year of the Metal Dragon I've heard.
